Howl all night long.

When it comes to music, I feel that the key element is the voice. Absolutely. You can have the best guitar riffs and still come way short in the music world if the lead vocals sucks (A Day Away, need I say more?) And this is the reason why I love this band.

Empires rock for two reasons. One: they have a 70s guitar sound but still keep a modern edge, and two: their album is free. I don't even feel remotely bad about putting it up here.

Seriously, these guys are good. The Chicago-based band recorded their debut album all by themselves (which deserves some respect) and it has a really nice flow. Some songs are just so deep, so full of volume. I don't know. I can't explain it. Just listen to the first song, "Spit The Dark". And then some songs should be instant radio hits. When I first heard "Midnight Land", I was shocked that it wasn't rocking the airwaves.

Don't get me wrong, though. Some tunes don't pull their weight. "Modern Love" sounds too, uhh, not good. Same with "Late Night Rendezvous". But everything else is solid. A nice mix of electric guitar and acoustic guitar songs, too.

Tell me what you think, guys! I need some input so I know what kinds of bands you like and/or didn't know prior to seeing them here. I want to help you find good music!

Alright, enough talking. DOWNLOAD NOW NOW NOW!

"Fucking around, pretending there's a problem."

You NEED to check this band out.

They're called Land of Talk, hailing from the sweet country of Canada, and they make some rad lo-fi indie rock music. Their EP, "Applause Cheer Boo Hiss", is a real gem. It's chill but upbeat, and the lead singer really stands out. It seems like she's not even trying but still hits it every time.

And if you're wondering about the title, it's from their song, "All My Friends". Please, please, please listen to it immediately. It'll be the song you blast in the car for the next couple months. "Magnetic Hill" is also really good. But they all are.

Comment if you dig these guys and I'll upload their debut album, "Some Are Lakes", too. I'll confess, I just downloaded it today, but I'm sure it'll be good.

Peace, and happily listening.

Sterling made a song.

You betcha.

It's called "Just Go" and I'm a big fan of it, undoubtedly.

Lucky for all you crazy cats out there, I learned how to work mediafire.com. For those of you not familiar with it, it's basically a service that lets me upload files. Then, people like you can download them and be like, "oh my God, I found this sweet band at the Wild Hotel!" More or less how it goes.

So from now on, I'll be able to put up links to all the new bands I find, and all you have to do is click "download" and you got it! Easy as that. But please tell others about the bands you see here. They really deserve all the credit they get. And tell them about my sweet blog.

Well, enough rambling. Here's the link to my song. Hope you love it as much as I do.

Sliimy? You bet.

Cool band I found the other day. Name's Sliimy. He's just one guy who can pull out some awesome pop beats.

He's French.

And indie.

And if you didn't know any better, you'd think it's a girl singing.

But that's the beauty of it. It's just good stuff. Check it out.  I recommend the song "Magic Game". If you dig the band, lemme know and I'll put up a link to where you can download it free.

God, I love blogs.

Peace.

I'm a big fan of the Sun Shoppe.

You can always count on the Sun Shoppe, a quant little coffee joint in Downtown Melbourne, to provide some good music (and good coffee... only $1.50!), especially on Open Mic Nights. Don't know who these guys were, but they sure could rock out some chill jazz. You should have seen the bassist. Wild.

And the best part was the girl in the middle... holy shit. Attractive. If you see this, mysterious girl, just know someone out there adores you, secretly.

Creepy.

Anyways, on the subject of music, I wrote a song a couple days ago! It's called "Just Go" and I recorded it on garage band earlier today. If anybody knows how I can upload audio to this blog, I'd be really appreciative. Might treat you to a coffee at, well, you can probably guess.

Peace out.

Thriftiness is next to cheapliness.

Yes, today was a thrift shop day.

I don't care what anybody says... you can find the greatest stuff at those little joints.  And really, the best reason to go is to see all the awesome old people. They're way too nice for their own good.

This lady talked for 10 minutes straight to her 77-year-old husband (I know this because he bragged how his age was so "lucky") about how she "hit the jackpot" after finding a rack of old magazines. That's just pure delight in my eyes.

I'm doing a load right now so I can wear the puppies I just bought, then I'll probably play some guitar.

It's looking like a good day.

You never forget your first.

This is exciting. I am excited. Excitement is the word of the day.

The very first blog post! I've been waiting for this for quite some time, and by that, I mean when classes got out. College can be such a drag.

I'll be honest, I have no clue where this blog is going. It might be filled with amazing poetry, fascinating photos, some really cool new bands, quirky insights and the occasional brilliance. Or it might be absolute shit. No, no. It will be rocking.

I really hope you get something out of this. This is half for me, half for you. But really, it's all for you.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay at the wild hotel.
